Neak Oknha Chen Zhi of Cambodia is a naturalised Cambodian business leader and visionary, more popularly recognised and known as the Chairman of Prince Holding Group - commonly referred to simply as “Prince Group”, one of the leading and fastest growing conglomerates in Cambodia today.

As the head of one of the largest homegrown business organisations in Cambodia, Prince ChenZhi, as he is sometimes called, naturally attracts curiosity and interest from the public as to his whereabouts and activities. Probably reflective of his personal nature, but there is very little information about Chen Zhi and his personal life. What most people can gather about this businessman comes largely from the official press releases that Prince Group puts up from time to time, which naturally only provides information of a commercial nature.

Even on his official social media accounts (on Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram, for instance), posts are mainly retweets of news and articles related to Cambodia in the areas of education, community building and so on. The lack of details on Chen Zhi Cambodia ironically only further fuels the interest of the general public.

What is increasingly more public though, is the slew of philanthropic and charity activities that Chen Zhi Prince Group has been involved in over the years, and noticeably stepped up in recent times during this pandemic period.

Besides donations and contributions to affected regions and communities throughout Cambodia where able, Cambodia ChenZhi is also passionate about the long-term growth and capability development of the Cambodian people, and as such as directed efforts to areas such as education, sports and vocational training to name a few.

Of special mention is the launch of the Chen Zhi Scholarship, which will provide full tuition fees and stipends for 400 selected students to pursue their Bachelor of Science degrees at top Cambodian universities including Royal University of Phnom Penh, National University of Management, and Institute of Technology of Cambodia. In total, Prince Group Cambodia will provide over US$2 million across seven years.

Without a doubt, Cambodia Prince ChenZhi has great aspirations for Cambodia and its people, and is using considerable resources in his personal capacity as well as that of Prince Group’s, to chart a brighter future for the people of the Kingdom and make Cambodia the rising star in ASEAN and across Asia.

Chen Zhi and Prince Holding Group at Forefront of Cambodia Private Sector’s ESG Initiatives

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA –  8 December 2020 – COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of environment, social and governance (“ESG”) practices at companies across the world. But there was talk of change even before the outbreak of the pandemic. Last year, the Business Roundtable (a group representing 181 CEOs of America’s largest corporations) outlined that companies must “support the communities in which they operate”[1], upturning the longstanding focus on wealth maximization for shareholders espoused by American economist Milton Friedman.

In 2020, times have changed.

This year, Prince Holding Group (“PHG”), one of the largest conglomerates in Cambodia, has realized this and blazed a trail for companies in the Kingdom looking to follow ESG principles. Since April,  the Group has made several large-scale donations to help in the fight against the pandemic and assist flood victims, and Neak Oknha Chen Zhi (陈志公爵), PHG chairman, has been the driving force behind the donations. For example, in early December, Chen Zhi and PHG donated US$3,000,000 to Prime Minister Hun Sen to help Cambodia purchase 1 million COVID-19 vaccines.
